I pre-ordered my iPhone on July 1, and finally, yesterday (July 30) I got it! Almost always when I talk about my iPhone, someone asks how much it cost. So, I paid 150 EUR for the 16 GB white iPhone and 50 EUR per month for unlimited Internet (but after 300 MB it slows down to dial-up speeds).

I have to say I’m quite content. The headphones sound much better and are more comfortable than my old ones. Everything works more or less without problem, except if I exit a program right after I start it and then no apps work anymore and I have to completely reboot my phone. Also, when you buy a program with the phone, it takes quite a while to synchronize later with the computer. Also, you have to use iTunes to sync and that somewhat annoys me…

However, the phone itself works incredibly well! The most useful apps for me:

  • Fahr-Info Berlin – public transportation in Berlin
  • German-English dictionary (16 EUR)
  • Instapaper – read websites which you’ve saved to read later
  • Midomi – sing something and the program will recognize it!
  • Remote – control your computer’s iTunes with your iPhone
  • Stanza – find free classical books to read
  • Twinkle – to use Twitter

The most entertaining apps:

  • Aqua Forest (6 EUR) – interesting physics game en which you manipulate water, etc.
  • Aurora Feint – interesting puzzle game
  • Crash Bandicoot (8 EUR) – nice gokart race, similar to Super Mario Kart
  • Ikanoid (2,39 EUR) – game in which you use a paddle and ball to knock out bricks, similar to Arkanoid
  • Labyrinth Lite Edition – guide a ball through a labyrinth
  • Last.fm – listen to a personalized radio station
  • NearPics – see pictures which others made near where you are now
  • PhoneSaber – make laser sounds like in Star Wars
  • Tap Tap Revenge – tap the rhythm of the music

There are more than a thousand programs in the iTunes store, but of course I can’t use or play everything on the first day. ;) If you know interesting apps or useful tidbits, leave a comment!
